Most Influential Africans in the World

Four Nigerians have emerged among the 10 most influential Africans in the World according to Africa Report. These Nigerians were said to be powerful and influential in business, politics, art and being peacemakers.

Seen on the number one spot in the top 100 influential Africans is billionaire and business magnate, Aliko Dangote, and also on the list is talented and multi-award winning Nigerian writer and novelist, Chimamanda Adiche.

One of Nigeria’s favorite singer and superstar, Davido also emerged as the number seven position on the list, while Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God emerged as the eighth most influential African in 2019.

The list of four Nigerians who made top 10 of the top 100 most influential Africans on Africa Report.



1. Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote is a Nigerian billionaire business magnate. He is the  wealthiest person in Africa, with an estimated net worth of US$11.6 billion (April 2021). as the richest black man in the world and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote of Dangote group is said to be worth over N5.6 trillion. With plans to build an oil refinery worth billions of dollars, Dangote, is undoubtedly one of the most powerful and influential men in the world of business and has even been said to be more powerful than President Muhammadu Buhari, as he controls a large part of the Nigerian economy.

2. Chimamanda Adichie

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian writer whose works range from novels to short stories to nonfiction. She has won several awards for her novels including Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun and Americanah. The writer has had her books translated in over 30 languages, has won the most prestigious awards in the literary world and has received 14 honorary doctorate degrees from top universities around the world.

Adichie is known beyond her writing prowess, she has engaged a global audience on racism, s3xism, feminism, and the human condition. Her speeches have been watched millions of times around the world and she has evolved from being a novelist to becoming a public intellectual.


3. David Adeleke 

David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is one of the most influential artists in Africa. Identified as Nigeria’s pop idol, Davido Adeleke net worth in 2021 is estimated to be N9.8 billion. With his art, he has managed to influence Nigerians globally and even spared his voice for political engagements and elections.

Davido is one of the first African musicians to sell out the O2 Arena in London, making history and cementing his name in the superstar hall of fame. Davido also becomes the Nigerian to have gotten his own Twitter emoji and it is for none other than the popular catchphrase #echoke. The slang is used to when you desire some to feel or show intense shock, surprise or wonder.

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is a Nigerian pastor, General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God in Lagos. Pastor Adeboye is the founder of five-million member Redeemed Christian Church of God and was the head of the church until 2017 when he resigned following the law that put a 20-year cap and 70-year-old limit on the leadership of non-profit organizations.

Pastor Adeboye is said to be worth N50.1 billion, in 2021. the man of God remains one of the top religious leaders in Nigeria and thus, one of the most influential men in the African continent. He is one  of the 50 most powerful people in the world by Newsweek (2008). Adeboye was cited as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2019.

Pastor Adeboye is a spiritual father to many but only few knows that Bishop David Oyedepo is one of his spiritual sons. Bishop David Oyedepo is the founder and presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel International. He was ordained a pastor by Pastor E.A. Adeboye on September 17, 1983.
